What We Do
Helping children is our primary concern—whatever form that support may take. We’ve provided vital assistance to families by covering the cost of food, healthcare, and other urgent needs. But beyond immediate help, our bigger goal is to empower families to thrive independently. That’s why we support caregivers in starting small businesses that can provide sustainable income.
We also believe in the power of small joys. Whether it’s contributing to childcare and school fees, or making a child’s day special with a warm meal or a birthday celebration, we’re here to shine a little sunlight into their lives. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.

We are a charity dedicated to creating better futures for children who may not have had the best start in life—particularly those living in poverty or facing severe disadvantage. Our mission is to provide meaningful, lasting solutions that give every child a fair chance to thrive.
One of our core focus areas is education. Too many children are unable to access or succeed within traditional education systems—often because those systems are under-resourced, outdated, or simply not designed to meet their needs. We work to bridge that gap by supporting alternative pathways to learning, funding access to schooling, and advocating for educational reform that puts children first.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to ensuring no child is left behind. With your support, we continue to fight for a world where every child—regardless of background—has the tools, opportunities, and support they need to succeed.

Zero Draft: The Global Treaty for the Absolute Protection of Children from Warfare
Our latest work is The Global Treaty for the Absolute Protection of Children from Warfare—an ambitious initiative led by The Rufina Children’s Foundation to enshrine the safety of children into international law. The treaty calls for a world where the presence of even one child is reason enough to prevent war. As we shape this global agreement, we are committed to listening.
In the coming months, we will be visiting communities, families, civil society organizations, and leaders around the world to hear their voices, gather their input, and ensure that the treaty reflects the realities and hopes of those it is meant to protect. We invite you to be part of this journey. Visit our Treaty page to learn more and share your perspective.
Together, we can build a world where children are truly safe—everywhere.
Objectives
Our main objectives are based on the improvement of society that can influence significant advantages as well. The accumulation of disparities amongst children living without basic needs could contradict their development and essential grooming. So to combat these potential challenges, we chose to work on the various issues faced by children and society. Some significant objectives of our organisation are:

-
The prevention or relief of poverty
-
The advancement of education
-
The progression of health or the saving of lives
-
The relief of those in need, because of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages
-
Any other charitable cause

The Rufina Children’s Foundation is dedicated to preventing and alleviating poverty by supporting vulnerable children and families through essential aid, food support, and income-generating opportunities. We aim to create lasting, sustainable change that allows families to care for their children with dignity and hope.
We are passionate about advancing education and health—ensuring children have access to learning, medical care, and emotional support regardless of their background or circumstances. From covering school fees and healthcare costs to supporting children with disabilities or chronic illness, we work to level the playing field and give every child the chance to thrive.
Central to our mission is the protection and promotion of child rights, especially in areas affected by crisis, conflict, or neglect. Through our latest initiative—The Global Treaty for the Absolute Protection of Children from Warfare—we are working to establish legal safeguards that prioritize children’s safety and wellbeing in all contexts. We invite communities, families, and organizations around the world to join us in shaping this vision for a safer future.

Purpose
We are committed to fulfilling our charitable objectives by focusing on the needs of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Our work is rooted in compassion, inclusion, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.
We deliver our mission through a combination of direct services, grants, training, and development opportunities. These are offered to infants, children, young people, vulnerable adults, their parents, carers, and the professionals who support them. Our aim is to create lasting impact by strengthening families, empowering communities, and building a network of care.
Recognising the inequalities many face in accessing healthcare, we provide support to those who are financially or socially disadvantaged. We assess both medical and economic needs to ensure resources are directed where they are most urgently required. Regardless of background, race, or belief, we are here for those who need help the most—offering dignity, hope, and practical support when it matters most.

The advancement of Education
Education is taken for granted in most developed countries. However, that’s not the case globally, where poverty, crime, overcrowding, or simply being born the wrong sex can deprive a child of their education. Providing books, a place to learn, and volunteers to teach can make a tremendous difference in a child’s life, pushing them towards literacy and jobs. The Rufina Foundation’s goal is to help children receive an early childhood education as a springboard for their future learning. Currently, a quarter of a billion children do not attend school globally, with 420 million children not even knowing how to read or write. Covid-19 has only served to exacerbate this crisis.

We aim to pay school fees, set up extra lessons for kids, etc. (in third world countries). The issues regarding fee payments and financial problems are pretty difficult to comprehend; by understanding such matters, we maintain appropriate financial aid to children living in these third world countries. The foundation is mainly linked to the local avenues in which there are many issues related to education.

We also aim to facilitate further lessons in subjects through after school clubs (in England and Wales). Pushing forward the classes taught in the curriculum subjects can spread awareness amongst the youth as well. We believe in educating the masses based on the social issues to improve the major factors responsible for societal development

The prevention or relief of poverty
This is a big part of what we do. We aim to go to impoverished areas and provide resources to help people from not so good backgrounds. This may include setting up parents/carers with a means to sustain a household system.
Poverty has been a significant problem for most nations as it can cause major issues for the overall households within a society. A feeling of uncertainty is something that is intricately developed, and this indulges people into committing crimes because of the inability to make both ends meet.
The poverty rate amongst working households in the UK is the highest ever. This is due to rising childcare costs, rising property prices and higher rents. The COVID-19 pandemic has further plunged households who are disadvantaged into poverty as thousands lost income. As of 2021, it is estimated that around 15 million people are living in poverty – this includes children. We are based in London, one of the cities with the greatest concentration of child poverty. We work to provide essential needs for children living in poverty.

The advancement of health or the saving of lives
We aim to pay hospital bills and work with health professionals to ensure that children have access to adequate healthcare. Most children during these challenging times face issues in striving harder for better engagements as well. We develop possible avenues for the opportunities for advanced healthcare for young children.
Without adequate nutrition, everything in a child’s life comes to a grinding halt. English football player Marcus Rashford has been instrumental in highlighting the issue of childhood hunger in the UK. The same is true of many countries around the world. The Rufina Children’s Foundation aims to provide counselling, support for mothers unable to breastfeed, malnutrition screening, and vitamin supplements. With the coronavirus variants anticipated to cause more hardship in the future and climate change leaving many families displaced or without work, getting food to those in need is more vital than ever.

The relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages
We aim to provide the necessary needs of children. We also help children that have been affected by trauma, trafficking or abuse. Multiple social issues have been responsible for the effective transition of social problems into possible solutions.
We understand the patterns of these social issues that could result in major problems; thus, we know that we need to improve the way such cases can be assessed. We specifically believe that children with some disabilities that mainly involve down syndrome are pretty smart if appropriately trained.
Owing to this, we develop possible alternatives for these children to take part in the multiple activities of life actively. We also provide children with the option of choosing their own future goals by engaging them in activities that help them in overcoming problems

Any other charitable purposes
We aim to generally ensure that children can keep their childlike innocence and have a happy childhood. Some other charitable areas include providing children with the opportunities to enjoy multiple outings and recreational visits. We believe that children are quite feeble and can easily be moulded, so we are mostly willing to provide them with an experience that helps them in relief.
