Our Projects

The Rufina Children’s Foundation (RCF) leads impactful projects that protect and empower vulnerable children worldwide. Key initiatives include the Global Treaty for the Absolute Protection of Children from Warfare, which aims to make children’s presence a legal barrier to conflict, and the Safe Start Initiative, which provides essential support to mothers and newborns. RCF also runs nutrition and hygiene drives in underserved communities and champions digital child protection through innovative online safeguarding efforts. Each project reflects our commitment to ensuring that no child is left unprotected or unheard.

The Global Treaty for the Absolute Protection of Children from Warfare & Armed Conflict

Turning Children into a Line War Cannot Cross.

RCF is spearheading an international movement to enact the Global Treaty for the Absolute Protection of Children from Warfare, a legally binding instrument that seeks to make the presence of children a full and final legal deterrent to warfare and armed conflict.

Baby with Teddy Bear

This initiative is grounded in the reality that millions of children live in zones of persistent violence. In Nigeria alone, the 2021 Humanitarian Needs Overview estimates that over 8.7 million people in the North-East are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance due to violent attacks from Boko Haram, ISWAP, and military operations. These children are not collateral damage—they are the reason war must be stopped.

Through this treaty, we are:

  • Establishing Child Protection Zones that prohibit all forms of violence or military action where children are present.

  • Calling for criminal accountability for violators, including state and non-state actors.

  • Mobilizing a global coalition of governments, civil society, and international bodies to shift international law from passive protection to active prevention.

Safe Start Initiative

Through maternity ward visits, newborn care distribution, and maternal hygiene support, this project brings compassion and essential resources to underserved families. Operating in Nigeria, the Safe Start Initiative promotes dignity, safety, and hope at the very beginning of life.

Digital Child Protection Zones (D-CPZs)

Community Relief & Nutrition Drives

Creating Safe Havens in the Digital World.

As more children grow up online, digital threats such as grooming, radicalisation, exploitation, and cyberbullying are on the rise. In alignment with the Global Treaty, RCF is pioneering Digital Child Protection Zones (D-CPZs), a framework for safeguarding children in virtual environments.

We advocate for:

  • Mandatory child-safe design in websites, learning platforms, and digital products.

  • Monitoring and filtering tools in schools, libraries, and youth programs.

  • Community education on online safety, digital rights, and responsible digital parenting.

D-CPZs aim to ensure that children’s digital spaces are as protected as their physical ones, building a future where no child is harmed by the very technology meant to empower them.

No Child Left Behind in Hunger or Crisis.

Across crisis-affected and impoverished communities, millions of children face hunger, malnutrition, and poor hygiene. Our Community Relief & Nutrition Drives respond to both emergencies and chronic need with compassion and speed.

We deliver:

  • Nutritious cooked meals to children and families during food insecurity peaks.

  • Essential hygiene products to promote dignity and disease prevention.

  • Basic medical outreach to underserved populations, especially in IDP camps and rural zones.

We work within urban slums and conflict zones to ensure no child is forgotten in times of need.

Bathing & Laundry Soaps for Displaced Children

Dignity Begins with Cleanliness.

Children living in displacement camps often lack access to the most basic hygiene products. This project provides bathing and laundry soaps to help children and families stay clean and safe from illness.

Donate £3.99 today to give a child their next clean shower.

Wrapped Soap

"The Shoes for School project is our response to this hidden but urgent barrier to education. We believe that no child should be denied the right to learn simply because they don’t own a pair of shoes."

Shoes for School

One Pair Can Change a Life.

In many communities, children remain out of school simply because they lack shoes. This initiative provides new shoes or financial assistance to help children return to the classroom with dignity.

Telemedicine Consultations for Internally Displaced Children

Healthcare from a Distance. Lifesaving Up Close.

With limited access to clinics, children in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps are especially vulnerable to illness. This project offers remote telemedicine consultations with licensed doctors and serves as a distribution hub for emergency nutrition, such as ready-to-use therapeutic foods for malnourished children.

Email us to sponsor or partner on a telehealth unit, or make a donation to expand our reach.

Books & Libraries

Opening Minds, One Book at a Time.

Education unlocks opportunities, yet many children lack access to books and learning spaces. The RCF builds community libraries and distributes books to help children grow, imagine, and succeed.

Support this project by donating books, supplies, or funds to build the next reading corner.

Renewable Energy for Classrooms

Water as a Right for Children

Lighting the Way to Learning.

In sub-Saharan Africa, 90 million children attend schools without electricity (source: one.org). Our renewable energy project installs solar power and sustainable energy systems to light up classrooms and power digital learning tools.

Clean Water Saves Lives.

In overcrowded displacement camps, access to clean water is a matter of survival. As reported by Premium Times Nigeria, camps suffer from severe sanitation issues and disease outbreaks due to water scarcity.

RCF is working to provide clean drinking water systems, handwashing stations, and sanitation facilities to protect the health and dignity of children and families.

Your support helps us deliver real impact where it matters most. Whether you're donating £3.99 for soap, feeding a family, funding a telehealth visit, or advocating for global reform, you're part of a movement to create a world where childhood is safe, joyful, and protected.
